Talent Acquisition Specialist

About us

Vow is a food company - a very different one. We’re creating real meat products from animal cells instead of the animal itself.

We’re bringing together cutting-edge innovations in science, engineering, culinary and design to make sustainable food that’s both irresistible and available to billions of people worldwide.

The role:

We’re looking for a passionate Talent Acquisition Specialist who is excited by the prospect of finding the best people to join our rapidly growing startup.

In this role, you’ll have a high degree of autonomy as a partner to Vow’s hiring managers and will spearhead our efforts to source, engage, and hire top talent.

We are looking for a person who is creative, passionate, and proactive about talent acquisition, and who’s excited about making a difference by finding amazing new “Vowzers” to support our mission of feeding billions.

The experience you bring:

  • An outstanding work ethic and excel at finding the best people, getting them excited about the opportunity, and providing them with a committed, engaged recruitment experience.
  • 2+ years of recruitment or talent acquisition-related experience, including (preferably) some experience with recruiting for technical (e.g., engineering, science) roles.
  • A clear track record of attracting high-performing employees with strong retention.
  • Proven relationship development experience, including a strong ability to influence, and advise stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to source candidates using multiple, creative solutions.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, and highly comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bonus points if you have experience hiring at a rapidly growing startup but not essential.

You will:

  • Manage the full end to end recruitment process for a range of positions across the business by sourcing candidates, initiating outreach, and serving as their main point of contact throughout the process.
  • Build out and manage a more robust recruiting pipeline through recruiting events, partnerships, and Vow’s employee referral reward program.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to co-develop our hiring roadmap and then work with these Vowzers to hit these targets.
  • Help us to accurately articulate our company culture, mission, and what makes Vow so special to candidates.
  • Own initiatives as part of the talent team around diversity, equity, and inclusion at Vow.

What success looks like:

You're eager to learn quickly and to hire for new roles, including some which have never existed before and will be new to Vow and the broader cultured meat space.

You approach talent acquisition with a level of thoughtfulness, both with regards to candidates and our hiring managers within Vow. You’re able to see the big picture when it comes to an effective talent acquisition strategy, but you also have a “no task too small” mentality.

You are always looking for ways to improve and evolve our recruiting process, including strategies for creative global sourcing and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Vow, more than just a job.

Who we are and why join:

  • We are building a diverse, mission-driven dream team of “Vowzers.” Our mission is to make food products for everyone. To do that well we need a workforce that’s representative of the people we serve. We celebrate multiple approaches and points of view - so we’re building a culture to match. Be yourself and come as you are.
  • Work on cutting-edge technology. We’re bringing together cutting-edge innovations in science, engineering, and food, to recreate the world’s most tantalising and unique culinary experiences. All without compromising on ethics or our planet along the way. Since our inception in 2019, we have held the title of being the first startup to cultivate meat from the cells of an undomesticated animal, and have served up our exotic meats ranging from kangaroo dumplings to alpaca sliders in tastings with world-renowned chefs.
  • Work with and learn from the best. Our team includes some of the world’s leading scientists, innovators, operators, and creatives with decades of industry experience. Despite our experiences though, we all strive to build, break, learn, and repeat. We see the impossible as temporary and strive to learn and support our company and fellow Vowzers' growth as much as possible.
  • We’re fully funded and ready to go. We are a growing Aussie biotech start-up backed by Square Peg Capital, Blackbird Ventures, Grok Ventures and Tenacious Ventures. Read more about why our investors are so excited about the future of Vow here.

  • Generous relocation budget & support. Support for  interstate or overseas individuals and their families (including pets!)

We put unlimited personal leave in place to empower you to truly bring your best self to work every single day and you are always paid for days taken off as personal leave.
  • Transparent culture. Active transparency to let you effectively contribute to every facet of the business.

  • An awesome converted warehouse office in Alexandria. Complete with a glass-walled lab, free snacks, a culinary centre and professional-grade coffee machine + premium coffee bean subscriptions available for all to use in the cafe, and a DIY workshop for all hands-on projects.
  • Human and dog friendly office! An inclusive community and culture, in a welcoming office, complete with friendly “Vowzer” dogs!
  • A variety of social clubs. We encourage all our Vowzers to build the culture with us and share what you love by creating social clubs across the business. From book clubs to hiking groups, we’re always looking for ways to learn and engage with our team.
