Vow is a food company -- a very different one. We’re creating real meat products from animal cells, instead of the animal itself. We’re bringing together cutting edge innovations in science, engineering, culinary and design to make sustainable food that’s both irresistible and available to billions of people worldwide.
The work that we are doing is a critical step on the path to creating a future where humans can exist in sustainable harmony with our planet. A world we can proudly hand over to our children and grandchildren. We are achieving this by creating sustainable food that is the most delicious, desirable choice of anything available. This is a mission we believe in deeply.
We have a fast growing team of 17 hard-working people who genuinely look out for each other and are fully funded by two of Australia's most successful venture capital firms.
This role is completely unique. There isn't really anything else like it.
You'll be joining Vow's food science task force. You will be responsible for understanding what makes certain meat products desirable and how we can use this knowledge to rebuild meat foods from the ground up.
Your role will be directly shaping how a new category of food, both delicious and sustainable, is brought into the world. This is your chance to make your enduring mark on the food for billions of people.
You are known for your understanding of a huge range of scientific fields. You can speak with biologists, chemists, material engineers and many other fields. You have experience with mechanical testing, chemical formulation and biomaterials. You get excited about things like the physico-chemistry of meat proteins, the design and rheological properties of food structures or protein-polysacharide interations.
You are deeply curious about why things are the way they are. You love to dig into the 'why' behind interesting observations.
Your day to day will involve analysing the sensory aspects of a huge range of foods, understanding which parts of their physical composition makes them a great experience or an unpleasant one. You will essentially get the autonomy and resources to define how we measure important products features (e.g texture).
You will measure our cultured meat products against the gold standard that you will work with the team to define.
You will work alongside our biology team to make changes to our scaffolding materials, cells and maturation to create great cultured meat products.
Ultimately this role will be shaped around the right candidate. If you love the mission and want to work on some of the most exciting and impactful problems on the planet today we want to speak to you.
Vow’s mission is to make food products for everyone, and we mean everyone. To do that well we need a workforce that’s representative of the people we serve. We celebrate multiple approaches and points of view, we are inclusive and we believe diversity drives innovation - so we’re building a culture to match. Uniqueness is powerful - be yourself and come as you are.
