The role:

Vow is looking for a Head of Marketing to join our team in Sydney, where we’re building a house of cultured meat brands. This is a rare opportunity for a strategic marketer, with a strong creative leaning, to pioneer the team that makes this sustainable revolution irresistible as we craft a whole new category of food - cultured meat.

We’ve got the technological platform to develop and scale wildly exciting, delicious, varied and differentiated foods. Now we’re looking for a leader in brand and marketing to pioneer these in market.

You’ll be responsible for working closely with our Product team to execute an effective GTM strategy for our first product launch in Singapore’s high-end dining market and other subsequent channels for our future pipeline of cultured meat products. You’ll also help lay the groundwork for what marketing looks like at Vow - helping to write the playbook for how we build followings for our future products and brands, and Vow.

As Vow scales, brand and marketing are key levers for us to introduce new foods that meat lovers choose selfishly - not because they’re more sustainable (even though they are as well).

Who you are:

  • Strategic storyteller. You’re a vision-centred thinker with high conviction. You can craft incredible stories then rally and inspire your team and others to execute around that.
  • Creative. You spike in idea generation and understand the nuances of creativity when it comes to brands. You’re an expert in exploring possibilities, understanding that this is both a volume game and a strategic game.
  • Storyteller. We’ll say it again - you have an affinity with crafting effective storytelling to communicate to and from the customer, and your team.
  • Analytical. You have a bias towards testing hypotheses rapidly, using both quantitative and qualitative data to drive decision-making (whilst keeping space for intuition in this).
  • Adventurous. You’re comfortable with navigating ambiguity and thinking from first principles, excited to build the plane as we fly it.
  • Bold. Risk tolerance is a natural resource and a strength that you have. You are unafraid to go to the edge, and do really wild stuff.

The experience you will bring:

  • Deep knowledge of strategies for customer acquisition, engagement through to conversion and retention.
  • 6+ years experience in an agency and/or at a scaling startup. We’re looking for someone who’s worked across many different brand contexts, especially from the ground up.
  • Experience working with emotionally engaging brands - or you can think effectively and persuasively on how to approach building them.
  • You have hands-on experience leading teams of creative collaborators (e.g. specialist marketers, content producers, brand designers, event planners etc.) to success.
  • You’re strong on the tools and unafraid to get your hands dirty with both strategy and execution, especially as one of Vow’s first marketing hires.
  • You’ve led or worked in a scaling marketing team previously, and are excited to bring your wisdom from this to Vow.
  • Experience working closely with and influencing cross-functional teams. You will continuously collaborate with our technical and non-tech Vowzers, to co-create and execute on shared visions.
  • You’ve helped build brands and products that people love, whilst simultaneously possessing a strong ability to understand deeply what makes people obsessed and why.

  • Be a key demand generation leader for Vow.
  • Report to Vow’s CEO to build the foundation and grow our marketing function.
  • Bring our first product to market.
  • Be a champion of creative.
  • Enrich our future products with strong brand thinking.
  • Develop our playbook for new markets.

What success looks like:

In your first three months, you’ll rapidly get up to speed on all things Vow, cultured meat, and our first product and brand. From there, you’ll dive straight into supporting efforts for our launch in 2023, including working closely with our CEO, first brand General Manager, and marketing team to crystallise the GTM strategy for this. This will involve continuous testing and validation of our first product’s value proposition, positioning and target customers. Meanwhile, you’ll establish the foundations of our wheelhouse of creative production to grow and evolve the Morsel brand - rallying a team to execute on this.

By the end of your first year at Vow, you will have:

  • Built a strong basis of our brand identity through many iterations of how we show up in the market.
  • Driven the marketing strategy for our first product launch, and have a rich pool of data and learnings ready to use and inform subsequent future product releases.
  • Built out a digital funnel across multiple channels for both Vow and our first product brand, measuring and iterating upon this according to both qualitative and quantitative metrics.
  • Laid the foundations for what product marketing and brand building looks like at Vow, as a future house of brands.
  • Grown the marketing function around you to execute on the vision for our parent brand Vow, first product brand, Morsel, and pipeline of future products/brands.
  • Created a thriving tribe of fanatical customers around our first product who are on the edge of their seats, waiting to see what’s next.
